# apply_to_skin()

Writes the active mesh skin to the DCC. Same as the orange **Apply to Skin** toolbar button.

It is not the Skin Desk button that sends several slots at once. Activate another mesh with [use](use.md) first.

This is also not `skin.push()`. This call writes to the DCC and then matches the frame. No DCC is `no_dcc`. No skin is `no_data`.

### Signature
```python
api.apply_to_skin() -> result
```

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `ok` | True on success. |
| `error` | Failure code. Empty on success. The path is not included. |
| `no_data` | There is no skin to write. |
| `no_dcc` | No DCC is connected. |
| `no_handle` | The DCC node was not found. |
| `apply_failed` | The write failed. |

### Example
```python
result = api.apply_to_skin()
print(result.ok, result.error)
``
