# bone()

Picks up one bone that moves on screen, by name.

The spelling must match. `Bip001 Spine` and `Bip001Spine` are different bones. An unknown name raises `BoneError`. You do not get an empty handle.

A bone that exists only in the weight list, and does not move in the viewport, is not picked up here. Those names are on [bone_names](bone-names.md).

### Signature
```python
api.bone(name) -> bone
```

| Argument | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `name` | Bone name in the viewport. A string. |

### Example
```python
bone = api.bone("Bip001 L UpperArm")
print(bone.name)
print(bone.trs())
```

If you need the name list, call [bones](bones.md) first.
