# new()

Starts an empty project. Same as File > New.

If the scene has unsaved work, the call is refused unless `discard=True`. No save prompt appears.

### Signature

api.new(discard=False) -> result
```

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `ok` | True on success. |
| `error` | Failure code. Empty on success. The path is not included. |
| `dirty` | There is still work to save. |
