# FAQ.4 — Send a Maya connection check log

## Overview

If Maya does not connect to SkinLayer Studio, run the check script below and email us the full output.
The script only reads. It does not install, delete files, or start the connector.

Send it to [contact@otakusolutions.com](mailto:contact@otakusolutions.com)

If you need to keep working now, [FAQ.3 — force start](../faq03-maya-force-start/) can turn the connector on. We still need this log to see the cause.

---

## Please include in the email

1. SkinLayer Studio version (Help → About)
2. Maya version
3. Whether you fully quit Maya and opened it again after installing the connector
4. The **entire** script output, including the final `VERDICT`
5. If you can, a screenshot of the DCC bar at the top of SkinLayer Studio

Do not send the scene file or your license key.

Do not create the `sessions` folder yourself. That folder appears when the connector starts. An empty folder does not connect.

## How to run it

1. In Maya, open **Windows → General Editors → Script Editor**.
2. Choose the **Python** tab in the bottom input area. Not MEL.
3. Paste **all** of the script below.
4. Clear any selection, then press **Ctrl + Enter**. A partial selection can show `Invalid Code Fragment`.
5. Copy the entire output into the email.

Do not run this in SkinLayer Studio’s `</>` window.

```python
from __future__ import print_function
# SkinLayer Studio - Maya connection check
# Windows > General Editors > Script Editor > Python tab > paste all > Execute.
# Do not run this inside the SkinLayer Studio window.
# Read-only: it does not install, delete, or start the connector.
